A quiz was programmed for today!

Harold started the class by asking us what we have learned about the reading. “The nature of approaches and methods in language teaching”. Method, approach, design and procedure were not concepts that you can easily understand.

According to Anthony (1963) an method is an overall plan for the orderly presentation of language material in which includes assumptions and beliefs, an approach is a set of correlative assumptions dealing with the nature of language teaching and learning which is abstract, it describes the nature of the subject matter to be taught.

After Harold explained every concept and doubt, we moved on to an activity. I will not keep you with the details, but I will emphasize that today we were a step closer of doing a lesson plan, it was a big deal. The task of every group were assigned randomly, we had to create an activity for children with the materials we were assigned, and also we had to describe step by step what we were going for. It was sort of a lesson plan for dummies, we had to think really hard to came up with something decent. It was the first time that I realized that being a teacher is not hard but challenging.

The quiz was rescheduled.
