We have been asking our current teacher several times to address things that first year teachers need to know. He figured a way to tell us some of the lesser known aspects of our future profession that don't get normally discussed in a college classroom.
I recommend to use these teaching tips, before you are savagely thrown to the wolves in you first intern job :)
TEACHING TIPS
Design group activities to favor shy students
Do not place shy students to the spot, if you want them start talking
Do not get frustrated if you do not score -in an activity-, there are other chances.
Never ask stupid questions -'cause you already know the answer-
Being in a good shape.
Never turn your back to your students
Always name your students by their names.
Do not hide behind the teacher's desk.
Look at your audience into their eyes.
Do not give instructions by heart.
Do not give to much instructions at the time. (Keep them plain and simple)
You as a teacher team up or pair up the students.
Leave room for imagination, but be conducive.
Get helpers.
When things do not work, get students involved.
Arrange the classroom sitting to your convenience.
Do not take for granted that students understand you.
Do not sabotage yourself by explaining yourself.
Always give examples.
Verify that students understood.
Make sure you find the right moment to correct the mistakes.
Learn how to deal your students' jokes.
Shut your students up in a gentle way. Create activities to distribute turns
Bounce back questions to students when nesessary.
Know who your students are, before requesting things from them.
Ask students to deliver materiales for you. Eg, Take one pass them one.
First give instructions, then hand out the materials.
Keep the pace of the lesson and help students who left behind to catch up.
Give students second chances, do not spot them on.
Create transitions between activities by recycling content.
Give students chances to practice.

Create situations for students to negociate meaning
Start over again, if necessary
Do not focus on little clowns and naughty students
Keep in mind students' attention spam when planning activities
Do not develop language skills only, help children develop cognitive, motor and social skills.
Practice how to deliver comprehensive input.
Set up rules when implement races and contests in the classroom.
Give awards to losers and winners.
Give students the chance to choose the kind of input they like.
Articulate and exagerate when you pronounce.
If you are co-teaching, try not to overlap.
Deal with crazy and late students.
Watch out for your jokes.
Please, know your words.
Do not sound apologetic.
Be coherent when writting up your objectives in lesson plan.
Do not stick with just one single method, otherwise you will lose it.
Nominate helpers when they are behaving as little clowns.
Do not abandon your students when doing a class activity, back them up.
Do not always pick up on the same students.
Be careful when using choosing games, or when ask students to choose other students.
Correct as many times as necessary. And provide input again.

If you find Felipitos in the classroom, insist on correcting.
Always ask yourself about how much you´re controlling learning: that defines the type of teacher you are!
Find ways for classmates’ control.
If you see students off-task, explore why!!
Don´t intimidate SS, but do not look scared in front of them.
Don´t fight students back.
Laugh with your students.
Be patient with Harold!
Watch out the pace of the lesson and the transition between
activities.
Bond with your students with an academic purpose.
