Session 15
April 03
Today's class we have two microteaching, they are totally opposite.

Suggestopedia, also known as Desuggestopedia

The objectives of Suggestopedia are to deliver advanced conversational proficiency quickly. (Lozanov 1978) The girls were faithfull to the method, they got us relaxed, in a state that they considered appropiated to learn.

Although according to Richards and Rogers (2001) the central focus of each
unit is a dialogue consisting of 1,200 words or so, with an accompanying, vocabulary list and grammatical commentary. There were less dialogue activities than we expected, instead we did a speaking with acting activity.
TPR

Now, let's talk about the second microteaching, Total Physical Response (TPR) is a language teaching method built around the coordination of speech and action (Richards and Rogers 2001).

We personally, did not feel that the microteaching was loyal to the method. TPR reflects a grammar-based view of language, there was not any element nor subelement in the microteaching.

The "microteachers" should have seen the commands or verbs and particularly the verb in
the imperative, as the central linguistic motif around which language use and learning are organized, but they didn't.
