Tales from
the classroom
BACK TO HOME
Today's microteaching was Community Language Learning, the class was divided in two. One part of the class received an Italian class and the other part of the class received a German class.

The microteachers were very focused grammar and pronunciation, they looked like confident and relaxed, it didn't seem like a class. It was more of like a space to share new knowledge because it felt casual, we had food and drinks. They were loyal to method, and it is important to mention that "the intention was that it would integrate translation so that the students would disassociate language learning with risk taking. It's a method that is based on English for communication and is extremely learner-focused." (Richards & Rogers 2001). Recording students' conversations in Italian or German was part of method, where the students had the opportunity to listen their own performance, so the assessment was not only focused on correct, but also on suggest students and showing them their mistakes.
